SWIMWELL

Here, we will help you to choose the correct stage for your child.

If your child can swim three strokes for one/two lengths with efficient technique, then SwimWell is the correct stage. In this part of the passport, your child will learn how to swim with much more efficient technique and begin to learn the correct turns on four strokes.

Your child should be able to swim one length of basic technique on a fourth stroke, usually butterfly or breaststroke. At the SwimWell stage, your child will have reached a level of swimming beyond their parent’s expectation.

In the SwimWell stage, your child will develop the following skills:
• Advanced the four strokes to an excellent level of swimming
• Perform an effective dive and transition to stroke
• Swim with efficient technique on three strokes
• Swim one length of butterfly

Parents Help

Swimwell level

We ask that you help our teachers by making sure your child turns up to the lessons with cap and googles on, and Passport in hand, ready to swim. Please blow your child’s nose and take them to the toilet before the lesson so that there is minimum disruption to the class.

SwimTots classes are proving to be very popular with the tots and their mummies and or daddies, who are able to join their wee ones in the lovely warm water.

Your child will become more confident in the water and will develop the first skills in order to be able to begin travelling on their own, without aids or assistance.

Your child won’t use flotation aids. Your child should be comfortable with their face being in the water and being gently splashed.

Your child should be able to travel 5 metres unaided on their front and back, using their feet and legs. Children should be happy floating on their front and back.

This is the most difficult stage of the learning process, due to the fact the distances are increasing, while learning how to be more efficient in the water.

Your child will begin to become more efficient with their strokes and gain a better understanding of underwater skills, as well as diving and turns.

Your child will refine their already efficient technique and increase the distances swum in each session. They will also learn how to swim with speed and hone in on more technical skills.
